Call to Worship:

May the love of God be with you all,

            And also with you.

Christ is alive!

            He is alive indeed!

Christ is risen!

            He is risen indeed!

The stone has been rolled away;

            The path to new life has been cleared!

The grave cloths have been discarded;

            And we cloth ourselves in glorious, holy life!

The realm of God has come near,

           Life found in a grave, liberation from one oppressed,      and joy from one who suffered!

*Hymn:   VU# 155      “Jesus Christ Is Risen Today”

Opening Prayer:

God of rebirth, we come together in this community to give thanks for the unquenchable spirit of life – the spirit that was a part of your son Jesus and that is a part of us. We give thanks for the opportunity that we are given each day of our lives to be reborn into something greater than we were before. Bless our gathering and bless us as we wipe the tears from our eyes, roll away the stone, and celebrate the risen Christ – Easter is here!

We pray to you who is our mother and our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
