Call to Worship:

May the love of God be with you all,

          And also with you.

A new year is upon us!

With all the possibilities and opportunities God        provides.

A new birth is upon us!

The Christ Child, the living gift of God’s love and    wisdom.

A family of faith surrounds us!

A family to guide us when we feel lost, to laugh        with us in joy!

How best to celebrate this blessing?

With prayers and songs of praise and thanksgiving to our God!

*Hymn:  VU# 36    “Angels from the Realms of Glory”

Opening Prayer:

Creating Spirit, now that the busyness is slowing, the days are getting longer, and the new year is near, we come together this day for rest, inspiration, and to seek your wisdom.  Within all the resolutions that may be made this day, may we all resolve that we take time for you – time to give you thanks, seek out the Way of Christ, and listen for your still speaking voice.  …

We pray to you who is our mother and our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
