Jesus, the Light of Life.

Call to Worship;

We are gathered to worship our God.

Send your Spirit upon us.
We come from many places, with many burdens.
Send your Spirit upon us.
We turn our hearts to you, O God.
Send your Spirit upon us,

and make us your beloved family.

The Reign of God is drawing near:

The prophet calls us to change our lives!

Prepare the way for the Lord:

A just and peaceful path!

Welcome one another, for Christ welcomes you:

For the glory of God! *

*Opening Hymn:  VU#20   “On Jordan’s Bank”

Opening Prayer:

A Parent’s voice bears witness to the Son.

God is revealed to us.

The Son bows his head beneath the waters of the Jordan.

God is revealed to us.

Christ submits to John’s baptism and frees us from slavery.

God is revealed to us.

God’s love is seen to the end of the world.

God is revealed to us.

We pray to you who is our mother and our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

We are called to love and care for one another in the name of Christ;

May the power of God which upheld them, strengthen us each day;

May the love of God which directed their every action be our guiding light.

So go now in peace with; the love of God to surround you, the Grace of God to astound you, and the hope of God to ground you.
