May God’s special blessing, Descend upon you.

Call to Worship:

May the love of God be with you all,

            And also with you.

Come into a time of worship;

            A time where we strive to experience the love of God.

Come into a time of peace;

            This is a place of sanctuary, of safety, of welcome. All          so that we may listen for God’s word without worry or       distraction.

Come into a time of questioning;

            This is a place where questions are celebrated,          differing opinions are cherished, where wrestling with            our “common knowledge” is prescribed.

Come into family of God;

            Even with all our differences, backgrounds, passions,            and sensitivities, God leads us to a banquet table          where we and all God’s children are invited to feast!

*Hymn:          MV#142        “Oh, A Song Must Rise”

Opening Prayer:

Holy Spirit, source of all creation, we gather as a family seeking the nourishment of your wisdom and love. As any family full of different people, we come in our own way, at our own pace, with our own needs. As we worship, we pray that we see each other with love, treat each other with compassion, and offer each other our patience and understanding. We pray that all the words we pray sing and speak, reflect your grace.

We pray to you who is our mother and our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
