Prelude

We Gather In The Presence of God

Call to Worship:

We have gathered today to worship our Creator and to give thanks for the gifts of those who have come before us.

We celebrate, we remember and we will listen for God’s call in our own lives and communities.

Let us join together, with open hearts, within the presence of the One who loves us.

Prayer of Approach

Loving God, you have given us the gifts of history, of learning and teaching, of community. We thank you for those who have touched our lives with their legacy – our ancestors in the faith – and ask that in this time of worship we would remember them, listen for your call, and praise you with our whole hearts. Help us to see where you might be guiding us, knowing that even in times of uncertainty and change, you are there. Amen

*Hymn: MV# 1       “Let Us Build a House”

Prayer of Confession

Let us come before a caring, loving Creator, sharing that which keeps us apart – from God and from others:

God of justice and life, we come before you knowing that we do not always live up to your hopes. Sometimes we worry about our future without taking action, or we look to the ‘good old days’ without recognizing our mistakes. We are tempted to give up completely or we get caught in a frenzy of control.

(pause for personal prayer)

Help us …

to listen deeply to your call for us and our world.

Help us …

to respond in life-giving ways that are true to ourselves, true to our heritage and true to your call to share the goods news of love.

Forgive us when we do not hear or respond in the ways that would help us and others ‘receive the kingdom’.

We pray in the name of the Christ. Amen.

Dedication

Prayer with The Offering

Accept these gifts O Creator, in return for all you have given. Let us take this time to pause and remember what we have received, and how we are called to share it.

May these gifts – those of our hands, our time, and our talents – be yours for the bringing about of that kingdom where all children are received with love.

Amen.

Pastoral Prayers

Prayers of the People

The Lord’s Prayer:

We pray to you who is our mother and our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
