Call to Worship (Adapted from Psalm 63)
May the love of God be with you all,
And also with you.
God, you are our God. We long for you.
Like a parched, dry land, our souls
are thirsty for you.
We therefore enter into a place and time of sanctuary,
So that we, your people can experience your glory.
Your constant love is the ground of our being;
it is life itself.
As long as we have breath, and beyond, we will joyfully praise you.
*Hymn: MV#174 “Soil of God, You and I”
Like a tree that seeks the nourishment of sun and soil, we come to this place of worship seeking your blessing. We come with our worries and imperfections knowing that through you, all things are possible. Out of our sadness you give us reason to celebrate; out of our sinfulness, you bring redemption, out of our insecurities, you bring love. We offer our worship to you as a symbol of our devotion, our gratitude and our joy.
We pray to you who is our mother and our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Time with God’s Children
*Hymn: VU#229 “God of the Sparrow”
Isaiah 55:1-9 (Pew Bible page no. 553)
The fits of God are priceless!
Luke 13:1-9 (Pew Bible page no. 776)
Jesus tells a parable to explain the effects
of sin and repentance
These are our words from scripture,
May God bless our understanding. Amen
*Hymn: VU#282 “Long Before the Night”
Minute for Mission
Call to Offering
Offering Hymn: VU# 538 “For the Gift of Creation”
For the gift of creation, the gift of your love,
and the gift of the Spirit by which we live.
We thank you and give you the fruit of our hands
May your grace be proclaimed by the gifts that we give.
