May God’s special blessing, Descend upon you.

Lighting of the Christ Candle

Call to Worship:

May the love of God be with you all,

            And also with you.

Come into worship with praise, the past is over,

now is time for God

And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.

It matters not who you have been or what you’ve done – you are now a child of God,

And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.

As we enter worship we let go of grudges that weigh down our hearts,

And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.

As we enter worship we are freed to drink in God’s grace

And we let go of the past, the wrongs we have done and the wrongs of others. Thanks be to God!

*Hymn: VU#288       “Great is Thy Faithfulness”

Opening Prayer:

Holy Spirit, we gather together in this holy place to be refreshed and renewed. There is only this blessed moment, the past is gone, the future does not yet exist, and our gathering in your presence is all that matters. Open our minds to new ways of thinking. Open our hearts to new ways of experiencing your love. Open our souls to the touch of your grace….

We pray to you who is our mother and our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Zero tolerance for violence against women

Why wear black on Thursdays. Wearing black on Thursdays indicates that you are tired of putting up with rape and violence in your community. It demonstrates a desire for a community where we can all walk safely without fear of being beaten up, verbally abused, afraid of being discriminated against due to your sexual orientation, political affiliation, gender or ethnicity.

This movement began in 1980’s in Brazil by grandmothers, through the World Council of Churches. Enough is enough! The “Thursdays in Black” campaign, through the simple gesture of wearing black on Thursdays, promotes an end to violence against women and girls. It is a united global expression
