Call to Worship:
May the love of God be with you all,
And also with you.
Come into a time of worship,
Feel God’s presence in the warmth of community.
Come into sanctuary
The world sometimes feel chaotic and even
cruel, but here, we are reassured that God is
still working, still calling us to holiness.
Come into a time of song and prayer,
Let our voices join with all creation, of every
time and place, singing praises to our God!
*Hymn: VU#516 “Come, You Thankful People, Come”
Holy Spirit, we enter into community to feel your presence and hear of your wisdom. We, like Ruth and Esther, want to break from expectation to do your work. We, like the first disciples, want to hear of Christ’s love. We, like Elijah and Isaiah, want to spread the good news of all that you are doing in the world. We along with many around the world on this day share our prayers to you who is our mother and our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Time with God’s Children
*Hymn: VU# 289 “It Only Takes a Spark”
Esther 7:1-6, 9-10; 9:20-22 (Pew Bible page no. 371-372)
Esther risks everything to save her people
Mark 9:38-50 (Pew Bible page no. 752)
Jesus uses exaggerated examples to explain the importance of staying true to God.
These are our words from scripture,
May God bless our understanding. Amen
Anthem: “Be Thou My Vision”
*Hymn: VU#508 “Just As I Am”
